Early care or midwife

As soon as I had my positive test I called my doctors surgery. They gave me a link to refer myself as pregnant at the hospital but I haven’t heard anything. I wasn’t told what to do or what to take but have been taking folic acid as my mum told me . Is this normal or should they have done more ?? I’m 5 weeks

Normally you won’t have your first appointment until 8/9 weeks

Depending on the trust your first appointment will be between 8-10 weeks. I didn’t self refer online until we’d had an early reassurance scan at 7 weeks (history of MC so wanted to be sure) and I have my first appointment when I’ll be 8w5d. In terms of what to take I would take a pre-natal in addition to the folic acid. I take Proceive trimester 1, but there’s one by pregnacare I think as well that boots do x

I was told it can up 2 weeks now for contact by midwives for arranging first appointment as my first pregnancy it was within days of reporting it. I’m also taking pregnicare which has the folic acid and vitamin d which you need to take.

I had a call from my midwife the other week to book my first appointment. I will be 7 weeks when I go, I think it depends on areas

I am in line with you and haven’t heard anything back from the referral either. I am taking pregnacare all through pregnancy vitamin xx

Did you refer yourself? If so they usually get back to you within a week. Have you got an NHS app on your phone? It gives you information about future appointments with the GP surgery and hospital appointments. Are you a normal BMI or any medical conditions? Most people should take folic acid 400mcg. You can buy that over the counter. If not Folic acid 5mg daily which is prescription only. Any concerns, book an appointment with your GP. You’re carrying special cargo Generation Beta
