Planned C-section

Looking for planned C-section experiences! I am a FTM and I am booked for a planned C-section this Thursday (was only decided today, was not part of my birth plan so im a bit overwhelmed), due to my BMI and white coat syndrome, I was due to be induced however, baby’s growth has rocketed off the centile chart at my scan today and because of the stats of shoulder dystocia and the increased risk of an emergency csection, I have opted for an elective as long as she doesn’t come spontaneously before hand (I have had 2 sweeps and I am currently 2cm so hoping baby comes on her own accord before hand!🤞🏻). Any experiences would be great, do you regret your elective section or would you have one again?

I had an elective C-section with this baby after a difficult vaginal delivery with my first. It was a far more positive experience than my first birth and the recovery has been a lot easier than I expected too. I am really glad I went for the C-section and have no regrets.

I had an elective c-section last Wednesday and can honestly say I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat - it was such a calm experience, all of the doctors, midwives and anaesthetists talk you through everything and the entire atmosphere felt really relaxed. Once your surgery has started your baby is literally with you within 10 mins, so the remainder of the surgery time you’re too busy meeting them to even remember you’re being operated on! I stayed in hospital overnight and was allowed to go home 24 hours after surgery. I was so scared about the recovery as I’d heard it was incredibly painful but honestly it’s not been bad at all! Stay on top of your pain meds and take it easy and it’s totally manageable! Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions xx

I had an elective 3 weeks ago and honestly would do it again, the day itself was very calm and relaxed all of the team were so lovely and friendly and really put you at ease. The downside has been the recovery the first few days and managing to look after baby but keeping on top of pain relief is key and slowly keeping mobile so each day gets easier.

I had an emergency, so can't comment on what the elective experience was like. However, from a recovery perspective, it's actually been a lot easier than I expected. I'm 10 days pp and I'm going on walks, off pain medication and generally able to do a lot for baby and myself. I will say that I have a really supportive partner and they did have to support me a lot early days.

Had an elective recently and it was a wonderful experience. X
