Combi feeding confused

My boy currently has 1 x 5oz bottle of formula in the morning and then BF the rest of the day. I wanted to try and give him some formula before bed because I feel like he falls asleep feeding before he’s full which is why he wakes up a couple of hours later. After dinner he managed a 7oz bottle and then I let him feed for a bit on me. He then woke up 5 hours later and guzzled another 5oz, this seems like a lot to me and has me wondering if he’s not getting enough milk in the day… He’s a big boy (almost 11kg) and I haven’t overfed him because I’ve mostly been BF him but I looked up how much to feed him if I was to switch completely to formula and it seems like a lot… 150ml per kg which would end up being 1650ml or 56oz in 24 hours. Is this right? Are you using body weight to calculate how much formula to use ? I’m not going to make the complete switch yet but my brain doesn’t understand how this is all supposed to work with them starting food as well!

That is definitely a lot ! I don’t use body weight to calculate the formula as my LG ways roughly the same. I go roughly by what is recommended at age, which you can usually find on the formula tin. So as a rough my LG has 4 bottles a day. She has a 7oz when she wakes from her night sleep. I make a 5oz for a breakfast 3/4 hours later which the majority goes into her weetabix and she may finish the rest in a cup. She has a light lunch and another 7oz and then a final 7oz bottle for bed usually an hour or so after dinner. When and if you do decide to make the complete switch will really depend on where you may be with weaning and babies needs also. For example the more used to food my LG is getting she doesn’t want as much formula each feed so we will gradually lessen formula. Side note: my LG did go about a week or two recently waking up for a night feed about 5/6 hours after being down for the night but has gone back to her normal routine now.

My girl is just over 7kg so according to the calculator she would be on over 1000ml a day. That just would never happen! If I can get 740ml in her that is a good day! I know she is smaller than your baby but she is tracking along her percentile line nicely now so it is obviously enough for her. At this age, with weaning etc I believe they are supposed to have between 21-36oz per day so 56oz is definitely too much

Thanks guys! So confused with it all! He just seems to want milk so much at the moment and because he’s drinking from me and the bottle I have no idea how much he’s having 🤣 I’ll just have to play by ear it seems!!!
