Milk

Good morning, We are currently working on getting my little boy off his NG tube (has been on it since November when he was admitted with RSV bronchitis, hand foot and mouth & tonsillitis). The past week we have made a big improvement when it comes to taking milk from a sippy cup which has made me so so proud! My question is because we have been on the NG feeds our milk routine has had to be different to a normal little ones routine. I was just wondering how many mls/ feeds a day everyone’s little ones are having as “normal”? I’m waiting on the dietitian to get back to me but they are super super busy at the moment and I don’t want to delay him 🤍

Mines still on 3x 7oz will always drain the morning and bedtime bottle sometimes doesnt finish afternoon one

2 x 8oz

We have 2-3x 6oz. Sometimes more sometimes less x

I give mine a bottle in morning, offer 9oz she normally finishes it. Then I only really give her milk during the day if she’s acting super tired (5ish oz) - I was giving her more but she gets so constipated that I’ve had to limit. Offer a bottle at bed time but half time she’ll only have a couple oz.

I am so sorry you had to go through this. May I ask what the reason for the tube was? I see multiple illnesses, but just curious why the tube? Sorry if that's ignorant. In case you're interested, I've heard really good things about this tube weaning programme/consultation: https://www.babycareadvice.com/pages/tube-weaning

7oz first thing in the morning & 7oz for bedtime bottle sometimes a little bit left in both xx

2 x 5-6oz, first thing and before bed. Go baby go! 🥰🥰

Amazing! Thanks everyone! We are currently doing a 6oz in the morning and letting him try as much as he wants then doing the remainder through his NG and then making a 4oz early afternoon for him to just try what he wants but no pressure and then doing a 6oz at bedtime again letting him do what he wants but then NG’ing the remaining so we know he’s got 360mls minimum per day 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I was letting him do his morning one as and when he wanted it but it was lasting him 4 hours and then I wasn’t getting time to squeeze another in if he didn’t manage it and we were down on fluids so 🫣 hopefully this new routine works well for us! 🤍🤍🤍
