Potty training possible autism or adhd

My LO Isnt potty trained yet we have tried but she doesn’t seem to understand that she needs to go and will just wee herself and carry on she is delayed in most areas for her age due to other issue she has had and is currently waiting to see paediatrician to be assessed for any additional needs like autism/ADHD she doesn’t say many words and her understanding for her age is also delayed but definitely progressing in the delayed areas. I just want any advice from anyone in similar situation and how you cracked it in the end x

Following as we are in the same boat ❤️

So maxi is on the autism pathway, has been an absolute nightmare to potty train I had the HV coming to do a continence referral cos it was so bad… well on Monday he decided to wear pants and just do it himself! So the HV showed up on Tuesday and said of course he’s done it his own way in his own time 😂😂 he won’t say he needs a wee (speech delay) he’ll just go on his own! I’d request a continence referral (it’s a long waiting list) keep trying with reward charts, toilet toys, choosing own potty etc but also remove the pressure! I’d say stuff like mummy needs a wee do you want to try too? Rather than maxi let’s go for a wee! Being at preschool was also a massive factor like peer pressure they all do it so he did it too!

Axon I think is autistic (on our way to his first appointment atm!) and he has a speech delay that is finally improving but he’s been toilet trained for around 2 years now. My eldest is confirmed autistic and was toilet trained around 1-1.5 years. Neither seem to have an intellectual disability so understanding was appropriate for a 1 year old. ERIC the bladder and bowel charity have some good advice for toilet training and it’s basically the same method I use. https://eric.org.uk/potty-training/
