Dentist

I pay for a private dentist but as I’m pregnant does that mean that if I ask about free nhs they can do it? I’ve been really nervous and scared as I’ve noticed a few issues but don’t wanna go as I’m a bit tight for money right now and don’t know if I can do nhs

I’m sure you get free dental care for when you’re pregnant and the first year after giving birth? I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ve been told xx

Yeah Courtney’s right, free dental care while pregnant and 12 months after

You can get free dental but you will need to be registered as an NHS patient, which may mean registering at a different surgery as depending where you live they might be full.

I’m in the same position and they won’t offer service without payment, as the lady said above you need to be registered to an NHS dentist and there is none in my area!! Best case is asking your gp if there is an emergency service dentist as that’s the only way you’ll get in on a NHS service x

Ask your dentist if they offer NHS services as well as private, each surgery is different. NHS treatment is free with a maternity exemption.

Like the others have said you will need to check that your current dentist also provides care to nhs patients. If they do but have no space then you will need to find a dentist in your area that’s taking on nhs patients. Depending on what you need done you might be as well sticking with the private one, especially if it’s fillings x

I pay private and queried this when pregnant and they said its only for NHS patients so technically no, but it's to the discretion of your dentist
