Preparing to conceive

I have PCOS. I'm 34 and a mum of 1. I have irregular periods so I don't always ovulate. Me and my partner have decided to start trying for a baby this year December 2025. Does anyone have suggestions of how I can start preparing for conception/pregnancy? My first pregnancy was complete luck. I had not had a period for months and fortunately fell pregnant and was told I had released 2 eggs when I conceived my child. Should I go and do women's health assessment at a fertility clinic in prep? Is it too early to start preparing my body? Thank you all!

If your periods are irregular and having PCOS, I would recommend looking into Myo-inositol. I went 2 years with no periods and when I started taking this it gave me regular monthly periods which I thought would NEVER happen for me. I got pregnant after 6 months and now I’m thinking about baby number 2. My son is just over 2 and I didn’t have any periods after he was born for well over a year and a half until now that I’ve started taking them again. Once your periods are regular enough, look into tracking ovulation with tests and perhaps BBT☺️ best of luck x

Myo Inositol ddnt regulate my periods unfortunately and I went to a fertility clinic found out I had a polyp in one of ovaries and had to have surgery to get it removed after that I did a round of fertility treatments and timed intercourse which failed the second time we tried again with iui and passed and I’m pregnant now thankfully and due very soon! So depends If you want to speed things up it may be faster with going to a fertility clinic but you may be able to get pregnant naturally like last time as well

I was taking CoQ10 and prenatal vitamin. I definitely recommend trying cervical mucus. that’s how I knew I was ovulating. https://www.aspirefertility.com/blog/the-science-behind-coenzyme-q10-coq10-and-its-impact-on-fertility#:~:text=Egg%20quality%20dramatically%20affects%20a,damaging%20effects%20of%20oxidative%20stress.

I was put on metformin from my fertility dr as well. My period was regular on month two, checked for cervical mucus, did it and got pregnant that second month. But metformin isn’t for everyone.

Im on metformin and have pcos. In pcos patients - some deficienies are quite common - always gd to get your feretin, b12 and vit d checked. Also i recommend hertility health - i used them twice - 150 gbp each time. But theyll tell you ur amh / egg reserve and many other things

@Laura yes, I regularly have those deficiencies. I will look into hertility thank you.

Wow amazing responses thank you. I love hearing the advice and what has worked for people. I was wondering if it is too early but actually seems it better to get my body ready from now.

@Christian, that is amazing! Okay I will pay more attention to that. I've read the link about CoQ10 so will look into that further. Thank you!

@Holly wow congrats. Never heard of this before so will look in to it. Thank you!
