Gestational diabetes

Hi everyone, I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes (yesterday) and I’m awaiting an appointment with the consultant and diabetes clinic. I’m a faddy eater, so just wondering if anyone can suggest any easy healthy meal plans that are quick as I’m still working full time and it’s so easy to just chuck pizza etc in after a full day! Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you all!

Gestational Diabetes Uk have a Facebook group and website which were very useful. The most important thing is to eat little and often, if you don’t eat for a long period of time your body releases glucose into your bloodstream and your blood sugar spikes

Thank you! I never would have thought of that! I’ll look at the facebook group now! Xx

And carbs unfortunately aren’t your best friend. It takes a while to get to grips with the diet but the Facebook group and website the Rachael mentioned are an amazing form of support and advice! X

You will also have the dietitian who will go throw foods to eat and to avoid

Once you get your testing kit and your measuring your sugars, it then a bit trial and error. I seem to able to eat pasta fine, but I can’t even look at a potato or bread. Fruit is also a big issue for me

@Naomi lucky you, at the moment my readings are all over the place, I think being so stressed is contributing to it

It’s taken me 6 weeks to get on the right medication, it just takes time.

@Naomi I only have 9 and a half weeks left as I’m 31 weeks! Hope it doesn’t take 6 weeks! 😂😂 thank you for all your advice!

I had it with my first just jumping on here and saying a walk after a meal did wonders to keep my sugars down!
