Teeth problems

Anyone else had teeth problems since getting pregnant? Before pregnancy I only had 1 filling and since I’ve had a tooth removed, 3 more fillings one in which is still causing me pain a year down the line. I feel like I’m constantly at the dentist getting something done or because I’m in pain and I just feel embarrassed even though the dentist said she can tell I take good care of my teeth! Am I just unlucky😩

Me too! There's an old wives tale that you lose a tooth for every baby you have. For me I had really bad reflux and daily vomiting throughout pregnancy... For weeks I couldn't put a brush in my mouth for gagging. Even without that, pregnancy hormones can make your mouth more acidic which affects teeth. I felt really ashamed when I first went in to the emergency dentist. Then another dentist told me it isn't my fault and I felt validated.

Do you breastfeed? I know that if you're not getting what your baby needs from your diet then your body takes it from elsewhere in your body...need calcium, literally takes it from our bones. That's why our joints can suffer. Do you take any vitamins? Might help?

Yes! I’d had one filling in my life pre kids and after my second baby last year I’ve sense had to have a root canal and have gingivitis despite not changing anything in my dental routine. I’m now obsessive about maintain my teeth but it doesn’t seem to do much good. It’s so sad!

@Hazel no I don’t breastfeed but I’m currently pregnant again so that probably doesn’t help my teeth! Not sure if I can take vitamins while pregnant but I used to take vitamins before my first pregnancy and never had any issues apart from 1 filling years and years ago!

@Lisa it is really sad isn’t it that we get dental problems from having kids we must be the unlucky ones as all my friends haven’t had any issues😢
