Birth query

Has anyone in here had a baby via emergency c section before because they couldn’t dilate (at all)? I’ve got a meeting about what I want to do this time around on Tuesday and I’m just trying to see if anyone is in the same boat

Yes, I’m in a similar position. I was induced got to about 3cm and then had to have an emergency c section due to position of baby hours later

@Shannon oh my issue is that I didn’t dilate at all, I was on the hormone drip for 16 hours and ended up in an emergency section because I didn’t dilate at all

I think I only dilated from the pessary, I was on the hormone drip, but there was a fault with it and didn’t actually work. I’m torn whether to have another induction or elective c section. I will be having baby at 38 weeks so unable to wait for my body to naturally go into labour

@Shannon I think I’m swaying towards elective c section cos I just don’t think I’ll get anywhere again, and I feel like that’ll be more upsetting

I get that. I’m super torn, but my midwife has told me that if I want to go with the flow so to speak then that is absolutely fine to do so and decide last minute what I want to do. End of the day as long as baby gets here safely that’s all that matters to me

@Shannon yeah that makes sense, I just know that not dilating (at all) is a common cause of a failed VBAC so I have little faith that it’ll work

I did and so with my second I had an elective c section and it was a lovely experience!

@Freya was this what they recommended ?

They were happy for me to try for vaginal again or go straight to c section, they left it completely up to me
