VBAC or elective c section?

Just had my first consultant appointment due to being high risk pregnancy. My consultant gave me the options for a VBAC or elective. He’s booked me in to see him again at 36 weeks with my decision. I honestly haven’t got a clue what I want. I keep thinking is a VBAC going to end in an emergency surgery anyway🤷‍♀️🫣 what’s everyone’s Thoughts?

I had a VBAC with my second and hopefully another with this one! But I knew from the beginning I wanted a natural birth so if you’re not sure definitely do some research etc until you feel stronger one way or the other 😊 but just wanted to say a VBAC definitely doesn’t always end in a section 🥰 I think they told me about 75% of people trying for a VBAC get one, they’ve told me my chances are over 90% this time since I’ve had a vaginal birth since, good luck!

@Jessica oh amazing! This is reassuring ☺️ did they monitor you more during your labour? Did you have to get induced or did you go naturally into labour? Xx

Yeah I was! I was induced due to high blood pressure (same as my first) and they broke my waters then let me walk around the hospital for a couple of hours then asked to put me on the monitors but still used the ball etc! I really didn’t want the drip as it caused my section but in the end I was stuck at 3cm so needed to but worked perfectly and my daughter was born after a 4.5 hour active labour 🥰

Have you thought about doing hypnobirthing to help you get your confidence up? It’s all about knowledge, understanding your body and being relaxed throughout all different types of birth. There as some amazing podcasts all about it on Spotify xx
