EBF

My daughter is 14 weeks old now.her birth weight was 7lb and now she is 10lb Doctor wants me to introduce formula now because she is underweight But she doesn’t accept bottle It’s a real struggle I tried MAM avent Philips The moment she realized it’s not breast she will start screaming She doesn’t take even a sip. I’m expressing my milk and giving her through bottle just to get her used to it But nothing is working at all Really upset Don’t know what to do😭

My EBF baby who had occasional bottle suddenly started refusing them all and did a lot of research until found Borrn bottles. He now no longer refuses. Also I heat the milk a little bit more and that makes a difference too

Internet hugs here 🫂 you're doing the right thing and are a great mum. ❤️ Seems quite normal for EBF babies to refuse bottles unfortunately, as I have tried and failed too. I hear Lansinoh bottles work well as they're soft and shaped more like a real nipple. Try when she's happy and not super hungry was another tip, maybe making a game out of it. Get a bit of milk out from the end and rub it on her bottom lip maybe? Xxx

Just another vote for lanainoh bottles, this is the one we found worked after going through bottle refusal x

Do you have access to a feeding support team? You could ask about a nursing supplementer- baby gets extra milk through a small tube taped to your breast, while they are at the nipple. Could be an option? https://laleche.org.uk/nursing-supplementers/

Try to warm the teat so it’s similar to breast warmth x

Try letting her play with the teat (no milk, no bottle) as much as possible to get used to it.

Another vote for lansinoh here. I researched before my little boy was born and these seemed to be the most recommended for breastfed babies and he's always taken them since we first tried at 6 weeks. Is there someone else who can try feeding her by bottle for you while she gets used to it? I read somewhere the first time you offer the bottle to have someone else do it and you leave the room so they don't think they can just have the breast instead. We did this the first time, not sure if it helped or if we were just lucky but worth a try
