Schedule an appointment with the lactation consultant. In the meantime, pump every 2 hours. It's going to hurt at first, but you'll get used to it. Baby is more powerful than the pump so it's good practice and helps toughen up the nipples.

Also Google all the different holds and practice it so when you see the lactation consultant, you'll already know the holds and it'll be more about how to latch.

My first born was like this! We had to use a nipple shield for the first month or two until he got better at latching.

This is how I felt with my son he is a week old as of today. I started bottle feeding with a very slow flow nipple and after giving him a bit I try to switch to the breast if he doesn’t latch that’s fine but I still introduced it so he could get acclimated to it. He still doesn’t latch on everytime but he does more often. I def pump every 2-3 hours during the day. I haven’t mastered waking up and pumping yet this mama is tired 😆 good luck to you and baby! Also don’t give up! Keep at it you’re doing great mama!

Hello. What type of hold are you trying? For new moms the football hold or side lying is probably the most comfortable. You want to line your nipple up like you are tracing the bridge of his nose downward to his mouth while squeezing your nipple / areola down into whats referred as a sandwich hold or C hold. Feell free to reach out to me. If you have any basic questions for more in depth information I wiould definitely contact a lactation consultant. Let me know if you need assistance with that as well.
