We are currently doing Bottle when waking up, then a porridge, wheat a bix or toast after his first nap. Then bottle midday/1ish. Then an evening meal then a bottle at 7.30/8pm.
Bottle every 4 hours (4 bottles of 150ml-180ml) and 2 meals and 1 snack
We have bottles at 6,11,2,6 and 10. We have solids (puree/blw mix) at 8, 12 and 4. He still has a lot of milk (like 1000-1200ml a day 🙈) and roughly 100g of puree 2x a day then a random amount of blw at lunch. But his growth is still steady on the 50th and he cries out for his bottles so I don't want to wean them down too much just yet. I will probably start that in a few weeks at 8 months when I increase his solid food 😊 x
I breastfeed on demand (usually every 2-3 hours) and try to do two meals, one early afternoon and one evening - he won't eat on a morning.
@Nikkay yeah I start with a bottle, then half hour to an hour later breakfast made with the rest of the bottle. Snack around late morning and some bottle again, lunch is usually after the midday nap 1ish then bottle again and small snack around 3, tea is around 5 and finish with bottle and a couple of spoonfuls of porridge made with bottle to settle stomach before bed
@Kryssi pretty sure milk feeds don’t need to decrease until he’s 1. Milk will be their main source of nutrition until then. X
Bottle 7am 9oz, Solids 8am, 9oz at 11, few snack throughout the day, dinner at 5:30, 9oz at 7:30 x
@Phoebe I've followed Annabel Karmel with both my children https://www.annabelkarmel.com/weaning-hub-app/adapting-milk-routines-as-baby-progresses-through-weaning/ and with her, milk should be adjusted as they increase their meals. I'm not going to debate whether it's right or wrong but this is how I wean my babies, you do what's right for you 😊 X
I’m finding weaning and milk quite stressful too. Between 6:30am and 10:30pm she has 6 bottles but never more than 5oz, we do lunch and an evening meal at the moment. She’s on 38th centile for weight and we struggled with her gaining weight initially (was 2nd centile) so I’m finding it hard to get my head around!
@Jess it’s hard isn’t it! I always worry if I’m over feeding him. He doesn’t know when to stop. He would happily drink 8/9oz one after the other if I let him. X
My LO hates bottles thanks to bad reflux so we are on 4 small bottles, 3 meals and 2 snacks, HV was in this morning and said this is a good routine for him, he is 8 months already and we get the advice to have snacks from 9 months over here
