I’ve had two and didn’t do prep really for the actual surgery. Both times I used hair removal cream a few days before, had my nails done (gel), eyebrows done for photos as they last forever and that was it. My obstetrician asked me what colour I was doing my nails 😂

I shaved beforehand but they’ll shave where they open up if you haven’t don’t worry! I took one biab nail off as that’s what I was told to then they used a nail with it on so I don’t think it actually matters 😂

Do you have a pre-op appointment scheduled? They should go over all of this with you then.

I was given omeprazole to take night before and morning of section. I was told no nails but I know some people do and it doesn’t seem an issue. Shaving I was told to do it no closer than 48 hours. But some hospitals will say a week due to infection risk

I didn’t put any nail varnish on anything on nails just trimmed them down I had a c-section and I know surgery soemtimes it’s best as: - 1. **Monitoring Oxygen Levels** – During surgery, a **pulse oximeter** is often placed on a fingertip to measure oxygen levels in the blood. Nail varnish, especially dark colors, can interfere with the sensor’s ability to get an accurate reading. 2. **Checking Circulation** – Doctors and nurses may check the **color of your nails** to assess circulation and oxygenation. Pale or blue nails can indicate a problem, but nail varnish can mask these signs.

I had my c section in NYC (for reference) No real prep beforehand - they do blood work and may suggest iron infusion if you’re anemic. They will shave for you but of course you can wax/shave ahead of time. I had a massage and mani/pedi the week of my delivery. I recommend doing some self care beforehand as you’re time will be consumed for awhile after.

I didn’t have to do anything but not eat or drink 12 hours before.

I had to wash with a certain prep soap 12 hours before and then a few hours before surgery. And no eating after midnight

Thanks ladies, all different experiences haha!

Meds - stopped any meds per guidance of my physician that can interfere with clotting (aspirin, fish oil). Didn’t take anything extra, everything was provided at the hospital (which included some pain meds, an acidic drink to prevent stomach upset, and IV infusions while I waited) Shaving - my paperwork said not to shave. They will shave you if needed. This was actually a bit embarrassing and they did a hack job so kinda wish I had done it myself… Nails - I’m not someone who does my nails ever, but paperwork didn’t say anything about this. I spent a lot of time hand expressing after if that changes anything for you. Other - had to fast after midnight, had to shower night before and morning of with special soap
