Formula over breastmilk

Daycare told me they think my daughter does better on formula and prefers it over breastmilk. They said she drinks the formula no problem but turns away from breastmilk bottles. Obviously hearing that is not easy, but I want to make sure my daughter is eating enough and is happy with what she is eating. Idk if I should continue to pump and freeze milk for her. Ugh.

Im so sorry. I would hate to hear that - it’s the frozen milk she doesn’t like? Can you give her fresh milk bottles ?

I was going to try sending fresh bottles tomorrow to see if that makes a difference. But she is fussy sometimes at the breast even, so I am not sure.

This is unsettling hearing this from the daycare. It could be that she prefers to eat around you and not the daycare or like Morgan asked which does she prefer? frozen or fresh pumped? I wouldn’t listen to outsiders hun, keep doing what feels right for you.

Also to add, I would consult with a lactation consultant they are great for these situations. Better to hear from a professional.

Are they not warming it up enough maybe?

And you can add a little formula to the breastmilk. It's just gonna give the baby extra calories.

Yes do you usually give it warm? If so, do they warm it at daycare ?

Is there a problem feeding bottled breast milk at home? I would try to give her a bottle yourself to see if she's actually turning away completely or if there's maybe something different they could do to help her accept the feed easier.

If you are freezing the milk then thawing then it might be high lipase milk. My daughter would never eat thawed milk because of that but would eat the fresh milk in a bottle just fine.

She was the same with fresh breastmilk yesterday at daycare. I will have to try to give her bottles myself, but it’s only with the breastmilk bottles at daycare. She does formula in a bottle fine!

Are you warming the bottles and do they?

@Morgan yes they do and we do at home too. She doesn’t have a problem drinking cold or warm though usually.
