I had consultant meeting due to emergency section and blood loss and some other health issues but nit preterm clinic. They just went through my last birth health and discussed what I hoping for this time

I am under the preterm clinic. I was in my first pregnancy as I had part of my cervix removed, but they said I have an extra risk factor now as I had an emergency c section after being fully dilated. I had my appointment on Monday, it is a urine test and blood pressure, then you may have a swab of your cervix (I didn’t have it this time, but did with my first) then it is an internal scan to measure your cervix. (And a quick check of baby, no measurements, just saw heartbeat and movements) Depending on your cervix you may be discharged or have another scan 4 weeks later. (I have another in 4 weeks) They asked if I have any plans for my delivery and I said I want an elective, so they cancelled my general obs call (was due at 30 weeks) and they said they will arrange my c section at my next appointment. But originally I had a call with the obstetrician which I would imagine would discuss my delivery options.

Thank you so much for this … this is why I am under preterm due to emergency c section at fully dilated

Yes. It is classed as a risk factor. Only an intermediate one and not high risk. So hopefully you just need the one check.

Im the same as you! I have mine next week and when I got the letter i was so scared as i had no idea!

I had my first consultant appointment on Wednesday I was 17+4, for the same reasons as you, first pregnancy was an emergency c section at 10cm dilated. It was a pretty straight forward appointment , she did an internal scan to measure my cervix due to possible risks because of Csection and because it was on the shorter side of normal they have prescribed progesterone pessaries (fun) for me to take every night until 34weeks and rescanning next week just to check how things are going. She was very relaxed an didn’t seem overly concerned so therefore I’m not and will just do as they say 😄 She said just to have a think about birth options and we’ll put a plan in place a little further down the line x
