Wake windows?

Hey momma’s what are y’all do during your babies wake windows? My sweet boy is 6 weeks old and I’ve started the panic every time he wakes up from naps because I don’t know what to do with him. When he’s awake he’s very wiggly and alert so cuddles and holding him doesn’t work until he’s sleepy which is usually at least an hour and a half later (that’s how long he stays awake). I feed him, burp him and change his diaper when he first wakes up which usually takes 30 minutes but I have no clue what to do for that next hour, any tips?

tummy time, black and white contrast cards, my baby likes to stand up on me with me helping her balance shes the same age as yours, take him outside in the sunshine if possible,

We like to do some tummy time over a boppy or a firm pillow. Focus on some black and white patterns. In nice weather we'll take walks around the block.

My baby girl is 6wks and we watch Grey's Anatomy or whatever im watching together lol. Sometimes she looks at the light show on the ceiling or we just "talk".

My friend, pediatric PT and mom of two recommended I get something like the Fisher Price Baby Playmat or something similar for my 7 week old. It’s on Amazon. This has lots of hanging toys and things that make noise. I now just lay her down here during her wake times for 20-30 minutes while I do yoga next to her or fold laundry or just play with her. Then we do some tummy time that she hates and then we spend some time calming down. By this time she’s hungry! It’s a great use of time and allows us to play or me to get some things done around the house. I bought a few additional toys to hang from the bar above her head so we can mix it up a bit!

@Jillian love me some greys!! My girl is gonna be a greys junkie like I am 😂😂

I’ve seen some apps advertised on my social media platforms that guide parents thru what to do with their babies based on age. I can’t remember their names except for Lovevery.

Tummy time, silly faces, reading, standing outside, TV, music, 10-15 minutes in the swing or bouncer

My 6 week old hears lots of books that I read to him and his 2.5 year old sister, he enjoys being worn in my Solly baby wrap, looking at black and white baby books, tummy time, and just talking to him. Don’t stress yourself out; they’re easily entertained 😊

@Bridget awesome

My little guy is 5 weeks old and he was a preemie so since he’s a bit smaller than most babies a lot of advice from other ppl or websites don’t work for him. So my response might be a bit different from other ppl’s. Some things he enjoys is: when I stretch him out a little (also helps release gas)(baby sit-ups, rolling from one side to the other, bicycle legs, hand to toe touches); holding him to do little hops (just up and down or side to side); talking to him and playing with his hands and feet (he loves to move his arms and legs a LOT); turning on his crib mobile so he could watch it turn and listen to the music it plays; putting him on his baby swing (I always supervise 100% of the time cause he’s still a bit small for it); introducing him to my dogs (taking time and going slowly); singing to him; rubbing his back or his tummy; & combing his hair or trimming his nails.

I did get him a tummy time playmat but he is definitely still too small for it. Can’t really keep his head up and not very interested in toys yet. I do tummy time with him on my tummy and he practices holding up his head. But sometimes he’s just wiggling too much and I get worried he’s going to snap his neck 😰 I try to stabilize him more and rub his back. Which helps him with his gas, calms him down, & eventually he ends up falling asleep on me. 🥹

Baby gym. I do stuff around him like vacuum, eat, stretch/exercise, work stuff, etc. when he needs some connection with me I talk to him and do some side lying and tummy time. The best place for baby is on the floor so they can move and wiggle. I will sometimes utilize our little chair or swing for him. Or, start working on baby wearing so that you can do all sorts of stuff together
