When my daughters hair was too short for things like braids I would use headbands a lot. She had a fun time picking out colors to match her outfits.
Like twice a week, if it needs it. She can be a real grub at times lol She won't wear headbands, that's why I was looking for different things to try. Xx
Curly hair will feel âdryâ as the follicle is completely different to straight hair it doesnât mean that itâs unhealthy her hair is fine and a simple leave in conditioning spray will do just let her hair grow and try not to manipulate it as much as possible to let it grow out and develop
@Cerys Thanks for your reply. That's pretty much what I have been doing, just not used to it I guess. Especially with mine being so soft.
Yeah just keep doing what youâre doing lovely itâs just different hair textures you can use a lightweight curl cream or mousse if you want defined curl look but I wouldnât do that too often. Also I suggest seasonal trims
If she won't wear head bands then I wouldn't do anything with it till it's long enough to really put up. Once a week might be too much for her hair. As stated above curly hair is courser and will feel dryer. What you want to pay attention to is her ends. Dry hair will have slit ends and her hair will break easier where the curl starts/bends. You can also try avoiding hair products with coconut oil in them. So some people find it's too drying. Instead look for something with a light oil like avocado or castor. If her hair is healthy and not dry then I wouldn't use moisture shampoo and conditioner. Finer textures tend to do better with volume products as it doesn't weight down the curls. Also if you don't already never brush her hair dry. Always make sure it's wet or damp first to avoid unnecessary breakage. Hope that helps đ«¶đ»
Thanks @Cerys and @Sarah I will keep it up. I only use castor based normally, I know from her dad's hair, it works alot better. My hair was really short when I was little, so she must have more of me than I thought haha. Thanks for the advice though ladies, it really helps.
Also you could get her a bonnet or silk pillow to minimise friction and breakage if you havenât already
Only wash her hair w product about once a week or even longer if it doesnât seem overly greasy by then. I usually do once a week but sometime I go a week and a half or two if its not greasy. Use a boar bristle brush on dry hair and a wet brush on wet hair. Also get her satin or silk sheets/pillowcases so the fabrics arenât pulling moisture from her hair while she sleeps. When her hair is long enough to put up use satin/silk elastics as well.
