We used the bassinet downstairs A TON during those first few months because naps were so frequent and we had a 17m toddler. Now if it’s your only baby, we didn’t use a bassinet, we used the couch and a bouncer while supervised. Or a comfy spot on the floor if you gotta do chores while they nap
Use the buggy bassinet downstairs?
Don’t think you need to buy anything extra. Use the buggy bassinet, but don’t let them sleep in the car seat the position isn’t safe for long periods of time!
We used the pram bassinet downstairs
Our baby lived in the bassinet downstairs for the first 3 months. Babies sleep ALOT in the early days and as much as contact naps are nice, having baby sleep in the bassinet meant we could get stuff done.
It was more when mine got mobile that I used to take them downstairs and lay on the couch waiting for them to tire out.
We used the buggy downstairs and when she outgrew that we used folded up blankets and a sheepskin on the floor
We used moses basket for first 3 months till he got to big for it then he sleeps on me or sleeps on the sofa being supervised. X
Every sleep is supposed to be in the same room as you until they're 6 months. Sometimes in reality that's impossible but for how important it is for safeguarding them it's definitely something you should aim for. I couldn't be away from mine when they were that little. Mine contact napped the majority of the time at that age but on the rare occasion he would go in the bassinet it was in the living room downstairs with me for all the safety benefits that come with that. I would say you don't necessarily a bigger cot for now though! Obviously up to you but ours stayed in his bedside crib until he was about 7 months. Then we packed that away for the cot (and we had a space saver cot) so that saved us some space.
As many said, the buggy bassinet! It’s doubly useful since you can push it back and forth to get them to sleep, or buy a Rockit which helps keep them asleep if they need movement
We used the bassinet of the pram for my first, but getting a downstairs bassinet this time so I don’t have to track dirty pram wheels into the house.
We used a Moses basket in the living room, baby didn’t start napping in another room till about 4 months but every baby is different
We use the Moses basket for her naps and bedtime so just move it where needed x
I brought in the pram sometimes esp when we just came in from a walk and he’s still asleep or just the bassinet attachment of the pram, that’s what I brought into peoples houses as well. We didn’t have a Moses basket I figured the pram bassinet would do the same thing- give him a place to sleep when we’re on the go

We use our buggy bassinet downstairs and just purchased a basket stand for it to go In. It’s been super useful
In the early days he would only sleep in my arms so it wasn’t needed. Does your pram have a bassinet you could use in the house?
Mine wouldn’t sleep anywhere but his crib upstairs so the Moses basket just sat empty downstairs.
I’d suggest a porta cot, then you already have a bed to travel with, and you can pack it away if you don’t use it. Lots of porta cots have bassinet fittings in them now
We just use the pram
We got a Moses basket for Downstairs
No, never had one with either baby and we had the same London space issue. If I’m downstairs we have the dockatot/sleepyhead. If my baby falls asleep on me whilst I’m watching tv I just lay him in that next to me. It’s great for supervised sleep. However, baby can sleep anywhere. Pop them in their pram or car seat on the kitchen floor whilst you cook. Baby wear them if you are running the hoover around or just take them to their cot upstairs. You make every day up xx
