Straight swap xx
I just straight swapped my eldest at 13 months as that’s when she ran out of formula. Gave the same amount & times when she’d have formula just with cows milk🫶🏼
@Rachel it’s more for potential digestive issues
@Emma this is not my post don’t @ me and I’ll be following health visitor advice thank you block me if you have an issue as you have in previous posts
For the mum that’s posted, quite a few people have said a straight swap. Based on their health advice, health visitors are often on outdated information. The newest recommendation is a slow wean . This isn’t advisable as it can upset their stomach. As we’re only at the start of March, for anyone who want their baby on cows milk by a year; a slow change would be better. This allows you to see how babe tolerates dairy, and doesn’t run the risk of upsetting babies digestive track. If babe is one a 7 Oz bottle, then I’d start at 6oz formula then 1 Oz cows milk (blue). This allows you to gauge babes reaction and in relation to your last question i would give water when eating and milk to replace the bottles of formula whatever that schedule maybe. 😊
Did a straight swap with my first and she had no issues, no digestive issues and she didn’t even notice it had changed. Second has a dairy allergy so will be doing a straight swap to oat milk once he runs out of prescription formula x
I weaned with my first. We went one ounce at a time for a week, then 50/50 for a bit then slowly to cow's milk, it didn't take more than a month. My little girl (second child) is used to cow's milk from her cereal and mixed into things like when I've made pancakes etc. So I do know it's ok for her digestive system already but I'll still go 50/50 before jumping straight to cow's milk 🍼
I’m more confused on how your baby is one but born in April? lol it’s March 9th? I guess I’m missing something. Is this the group for babies born in April 2024. So wasn’t your baby born in March or am I missing something?
@Tracie I think she's saying they were due April (so was in his group from pregnant) but born very early, so ended up beginning of March?
@Tracie my baby was due April 5th but was born 4 weeks early
Oh ok! Was just confused. My baby was due end of March but she came early April so that’s why I left the March baby group because she came in April
Why the rush ? That’s the first question? I mean I know formula is expensive but are you sure you can provide all the vitamins nutrients with food and cows milk what baby had from the formula? I kept my babies on formula until about 16-17months I don’t see an issue with it they got a whole life ahead of them to drink cows milk. And about allergies my boy was cmpa he was on special formula until 17months old and I swapped his milk to oat drink/milk never tried cows milk only had custard cheese and other dairy products and he was fine and still fine with them today he loves hot chocolate tho no reaction he grown out of the allergies. It’s definitely healthy for kids but all families are different and do what’s best for your baby but definitely I would try let’s say 1-2ouce of cows milk after lunch and see how he is afterwards because you never know what to expect but definitely don’t give it before bedtime as it might upset his tummy and he won’t be sleeping.
Cows milk can slowly replace formula try doing a normal bottle but with one less answer formula and announce cows milk and then slowly start reducing the formula to replace with cows milk
