Naps! HELP

Moms’s I need your naps advices! 🥺 My son started daycare quite suddenly, and now that we try to put him down for naps during the day it's huge tantrums for up to 20 minutes and then I can't hear him crying anymore so I go and get him but it's a problem for nap time at daycare. He's 8 months old and since he was born he's been taking his naps in our arms and sometimes in his bed, but rarely. I know I should have done things differently but it’s done so i need to find solutions. How can I get him to fall asleep well in his bed during the day? He only sleeps 45 minutes a day in total, is that normal?

You can try to offer him a nap every 2.5hours, that’s the average wake window at 8months old.. my son is also 8months old and what I do is I make sure he’s sleepy when I try to put him down for a nap, I wait until it’s been 2.5hours since his last nap and wait to see a sleepy cue.. what I do is I hold him and bounce him a bit or rock him in his room and as soon as he closes his eyes to sleep I wait a minute or 2 and put him in bed on his side with both my hands on his shoulder and bum and wait for him to settle and continue putting himself to sleep. I think if you get the wake windows and sleepy cues right he should go down pretty easily. My son only fights naps when he’s not ready to nap yet or when he’s overtired and been awake too long since the last nap

When our baby is really upset and fighting sleep we bounce on the big exercise ball or rock him in the sling/carrier. Best of luck with the transition, sounds tough 💛

Try putting him down for a nap but staying in the room so he can see you so he knows you are there

Hi does he only sleep 45min even in your arms?

@Kelly if we do contact naps he sleeps maybe 1 hour max 1h30! still not much. but he does really good nights

hmm, that sounds tough! maybe try a consistent nap routine like a little song or story before putting him down, and yeah, 45 mins seems a bit short for his age, but every baby is different, so don't stress too much! here's what the 'Heal Baby Care App' says.... "It's understandable to feel overwhelmed with the changes in your son's routine. At 8 months, it's common for babies to have short naps, but ideally, they should be getting around 2-3 hours of daytime sleep. To help him nap better in his bed, try establishing a consistent nap routine, such as a short wind-down period with calming activities before laying him down. You might also consider using a sleep sack or a favorite blanket to create a comforting sleep environment. Have you tried any specific calming techniques or routines before nap time?
