Diarrhea

I noticed my 14 weeks baby got diarrhea yesterday he got better and back to normal. But this morning woke up and he got diarrhea two times already. What should I do? How long should I wait and observe before we take him to hospital? Any mum experience this. As he now likes to put his hand in his mouth and also during gym play also he try to toy in his mouth too (I tried my best to wash all toys often). Or is it possible if it from the food I eat? He’s breastfeeding baby.

It's possible he is teething already. Or there is a change in your diet that is affecting him.

In America, do you just skip the general practitioner/community doctor and go straight to hospital? Hospitals in the UK are for emergencies and very serious medical issues - we go to our ‘family doctor’ with things like this. I wouldn’t be overly worried about a few days worth of an upset stomachs but if they show other symptoms or it persists for longer than 3/4 days I would go for our doctor firstly

@Monica probably yeah I did change my diet a bit last week and this week for breakfast.

@Jess that could also be it. I changed my diet a bit and the same happened to my 4 month old. Besides him starting to teeth.

@Monica how long diarrhea could last as now what I can do is nurse him often. Also recently he doesn’t nap well and always wanna play.

My 15 week old has been going through the same thing! I would contact your pediatrician but ours said as long as he’s hydrated and doesn’t get worse to observe at home.

@Hana thank Hana- for now we will observe him first

If he doesn’t have 5-6 wet diapers a day or gets a fever bring him to the dr right away! Best of luck!

I thought semi runny was normal?

@Shayla me too. How can you tell the difference between diarrhea and regular newborn poop?

Mine is having the exact same problem and exact same age. I'm thinking it's teething

How do you know it’s diarrhea vs his normal? My son has runny poo, which is normal. Probably won’t get solid until he starts eating real food.
