Has anyone taken the Mini pill (the one taken every day) as contraception?

I have recently been prescribed the mini pill but a bit reluctant to take it because my weight has always fluctuated and I am working really hard to lose it right now. What are your experiences and side effects?

I am on it now as I had a C-section and can’t get preg for 18 months. So far all good. I didn’t know about weight gain side effect

I was on the mini pill for years, and didn't really notice any side effects. After having my son 5 years ago and returning to full time work 2 years ago I have put on weight but I can't say that that was because of the mini pill as I'd gone from walking miles a day with the little one in his pushchair to being lucky if I walk 3 miles a week. I got pregnant quickly both times I've come of the mini pill to concieve too

That’s reassuring to hear Chelsey. I’ve gained 12kg whilst preg, lost that and little over once I had him within a couple of weeks and in my postpartum I gained 4kg but nothing to do with the pill either as I just started it a month ago. I’ve cut out daily half a pack of digestives and heavy carbs in every meal and am looking forward to shedding the weight and feeling strong and for my boy who I need energy running after. So far I lost 1kg so I feel chuffed. Marathon not a sprint 😊

I used to be on the mini pill but this was way before pregnancy. I didn’t experience any weight gain but I did experience spotting, sometimes throughout the month which was extremely annoying and ultimately led to me coming off it and trying something else. Thing is though that everyone is different and hormones affect us all in unique ways so I’d say give it a go and if you experience anything that causes you concern speak to your doctor about switching to something more suitable. In general though I haven’t had any horrible side effects from it, just annoying :)

That’s great Ewa, glad you was fine besides the spotting. One of my girlfriends had a similar experience
