Breastfeeding and Wine? Serious advice.

Hello — I have an 8 month old baby boy. I am also a breastfeeding mama. Since he was about a month I’ve had a couple bottles a wine about 2-3 times a week. I’ve SLOWED down BIG time. Now I am having about a bottle and a half of wine in one sitting once a week. I try my best to pump as much milk out before drinking but there are times my baby wants milk. After having my wine and eating I feed my baby. I feel so guilty. Any advice on breastfeeding and drinking? I hope none of you think I’m a terrible mom 😣 sometimes I just need a break ..

In relation to feeding your baby there is no need to pump and dump it’s like a drop in the ocean for how much your baby gets. If you feed before you drink then wait two hours after drinking then there should be none in your milk at all. You can look it up online. However I personally would not be able to look after my baby properly after drinking a bottle and a half of wine as I would be drunk. I don’t tend to get drunk while caring for my baby id have an odd glass or two but that’s it’s. That’s usually where the stigma of drinking and feeding comes in as you need to be alert to babies needs. The hangover the next day would also make me unable to care the way I usually would for baby

Drink it up girl!! Get your mama break. No need to feel guilty!

I’m still pregnant so I haven’t used it yet, but I’ve seen alcohol test strips for breast milk at Target! You can apparently test the milk before giving it to baby.
