Soothing

How are everyone getting there little ones to self soothe for naps? I'm worried that my one doesn't nap so easily. He needs to start off with contact and rocking almost every time.

How old is he? Self soothing tends to start from 3+ months from what I’ve read so totally normal that he wants contact and rocking. We’re exactly the same with ours, only difference maybe is a dummy which tends to help. The only way he puts himself to sleep so to speak is if I put him in the pram at the exact right time, it’s like a dark art!

I take my kids out for a walk in the buggy and they self sooth themselves down for a nap. My little girl now self soothes herself to sleep at night too now which is amazing so I can focus on putting my little boy down for a sleep at same time. I don’t have a specific time for their naps in the day, they tend to nap when they are tired rather than me force it upon them which means the evenings are easier to get them to have a good nights sleep. My little boy since he was 2 weeks old (after gaining back his birth weight) has been sleeping for 6/7 hours straight a night which has been amazing and only wakes maybe once or twice for a feed and goes back to sleep straight away each time

My HV said to have hands out of scratch mits if they are in them so they can feel. My LO usually touches his hair and has fingers in his mouth. I just get worried his hands get cold so in the night I cover them back up xx

@Jess he is 3 months today and just won't take to a dummy, I've tried different brands too
