Are you looking to be in the maternity ward or birth centre? Makes a huge difference! I’ve been at St Mary’s, mainly because it’s closer, but I believe both are very similar. The birth centre was great, but due to complications I had to be moved to the ward and that was horrible. Too many people in one room, although unless you go private I believe that’s often an issue. Also, no air con or possibility to open windows in the ward, so if like me your baby is due in summer and you are during a heatwave like me, it’s unbearable. Like a sauna. Only had a fan and it didn’t do much. Not sure about Queen Charlotte. Hope all goes well for you!

I was scheduled to have my baby in QC but due to having no beds I delivered in SMH. QC is a lovely hospital but very busy. I had a very positive experience in SM but hospital is quite old and undergoing renovations. Staff were great. Good luck either way 💕

I had my care and gave birth at queen charlottes, my pregnancy was high risk with many complications and the birth was quite complicated and I had to be induced but I had a very positive experience throughout my whole pregnancy and birth- all staff members were lovely and appointments never felt rushed and were mostly on time

I gave birth in QC. I was supposed to give birth in the birth center, which is where I got most of my care and it was lovely, the staff were very friendly and the facilities looked nice and clean and quiet. Due to baby not moving much during contractions I had to move to the ward and it was hell. I didn’t feel looked after, it was a really negative experience for me. The post natal ward was unorganised and the midwife’s looked like they were working double shifts, all very tired and forgetful.

I had mine at QC and would not recommend it! The staff on the ward after giving birth were not helpful at all - probably overworked tbh but still as a FTM i was so anxious. Ended up paying for a private room upstairs and those staff were amazing.

I gave birth last month at QC in the birth centre and would definitely recommend for a low risk pregnancy. All the midwifes were lovely, and you get a spacious room with a double bed to stay in with your partner until you’re ready to be discharged. There’s always a chance you can get transferred to the labour ward, so no idea how that is, but birth centre was great

@Alhaj how do you go about paying for a private room? And do you mind me asking how much did it cost?
