i really wish i would have done a home birth, i knew that’s what i wanted but i thought i couldn’t cause it was my first baby. but first time moms can absolutely home birth! don’t listen to disapproving family members, their opinion has nothing to do with YOUR choice. listen to/read home birth stories, practice breathing exercises, research ways to manage your pain without medication, hire a doula if you can afford it
if you have instagram i highly recommend checking out these accounts thenakeddoula badassmotherbirther painfreebirth orgasmicbirth livewildbirthfree
Have your home birth! Also a FTM and I had the most wonderful experience. People always have something negative to say, and traumatic birth stories to share. You gotta keep that energy away and set some boundaries. "Thank you for your concern but I am confident in my choices +/- would rather not discuss this further" Generally, the younger you are the more straightforward your birth is, you're in your prime.
It’s definitely possible and can be done safely. However if you want to do that, you would want to look for an homebirth midwife ASAP before you’re too far along to be seen by one. OBs don’t do them.
I had my first child unassisted at home with just my partner and I. Prepare mentally and get as much knowledge as possible to raise confidence. You can definitely do it! 🫶🏽
I have had 2 home birth now and both have been amazing! My first was longer and id say the ring of fire is where the real pain was. Second time around I really focused on staying active in labour I only laid down towards the end as I was starting to shiver (this is a good sign you’re in transition). Baby number 2 came seconds after my waters burst. I had a slight haemorrhage with my first (likely due to pushing for 2 hours) but the midwives are highly trained to manage and they did. Second time around we had those steps in place incase but was not needed. Both big babies 8.10 and 9.2 and no tearing! My advice would be get as educated as possible though podcast etc pregnancy and birth made easy is a great one on Spotify. There will always be negative views but you have to set you’re mind on it and know is possible and mannny women do it! But also know your body and if you are a person that goes to the doctors or hospital for stomach pain like my husband you will not be able to do it😂
Hi! First off you are not alone! I did a home birth for my first one and people would tell me I had no clue what I was getting into, when really I had a lot more knowledge than I thought. The pain people talk about in hospital births has a lot to do with being induced and fear causing your spirit and mind to be disconnected with what's happening to your body. I had my MIL ask me, "you know, it's going to be painful right?" It doesn't have to be, but she wouldn't understand and it wasn't my job to make everyone else okay with my decision. Being able to trust your body, and know that your not in a medical emergency, helps keep your mind in labor land. Which is the place you go to as contractions pick up. It was never too much to handle, I had my husband's love and support next to me the whole time and my midwives reassurance that things were going perfectly and I was doing great.
I’m also doing my first at home. I just don’t listen because I know how women are lied to today to think they need interventions. Books that really helped were Hypnobirthing, Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth, and Birthing from Within. You’re made to do it, good luck!
I did a home birth for my first almost 5 months ago! The BEST advice I received was to rest as much as possible while you can. Like seriously try and sleep as much as you can when labor begins before the contractions get too intense. My midwives said the number one reason why home births get transferred to the hospital is due to exhaustion. If you are looking for any education I liked the Mama Natural course. As far as the pain… transition is WILD 😂😂 but between contractions I was still trying to crack jokes with my husband haha. It’s manageable and just remember that when you think you can’t do it, you are getting close.
@Sadie exactly the same thing for me ! What things have you done to prepare for home birth are you having your first kept at home ? I’m planning on doing so but just having an extra family member there
@Fifi I fear my home birth may no longer be the possibility 🥺
@Fifi just saw your comment and I thought id mention cause I was stressing about this before having my daughter but my son was home. I went into labour in the evening, he was in bed sleeping the whole time, even when the midwives cane etc and I knew hed wake up just at the perfect time. He did. As my waterbroke he woke up my husband went to get him and as they were coming down I was about to push out his sister lool it was pretty magical. We didnt have any help but forsure would recommend to if you have it! Someone that can just take them to watch a show etc. good luck!! ❤️❤️💪
So I’m about to have my second baby. My first was an induction in hospital last year and this time round I’m opting for a home birth. My induction with my first was with the hormone drip and the most painful and stressful thing I have ever experienced in my life and I’ve said I won’t allow that again. I know natural contractions will be painful, but I believe with gas and air, a labour comb, and movement the pain will be manageable (I was stuck in bed first time round). Being in a place you feel comfortable and safe can make labour quicker and easier and I think if it’s what you really want you should be an advocate for yourself and do it! I’m in the UK so I don’t know how things work in the US, but believe in yourself and what would make you feel most relaxed ❤️❤️
