Still not sleeping through

My 2 year and 7 month old baby is still not sleeping through the night. She has always been a bad sleeper and has slept through only a few times since she’s been born. Whether she’s in her own bed or my bed, she still wakes up numerous times in the night. Is anyone else going through the same? Is there anything I can do to help her sleep through?

I found that night wakes are usually because the routine isn't quite right. I have found even this week that a slightly earlier bedtime (literally 20-30 mins) has meant that only one small bit of help was needed in the night and that was before I went to bed. What's the routine?

Ours is the same. She goes to sleep around 8 and wakes up for the day around 7:30/8 but has been waking up during the night wanting mummy ? Any advice ?

No naps during the day either

@Zoe i found bedtime for us worked best at 12-12.5 hours after waking so bedtime may need tweaking if she's woken earlier (7.30) or pushing back a smidge. How long does it take her to fall asleep?

@Natalie yeah so this is how I work out her nap time and bedtime pretty much. Her nap is usually 4-4.5 hours after waking up and then I put her to bed around 6-6.5 hours after she’s woken up from a nap which is 40-60 mins long so her days are usually between 12-13 hours long and even then she wakes up multiple times. I’ve also tried boring home days and active days where she’s walking a lot and still the same x

I've found that 4-4.5 wasn't enough for my daughter now she's got older and needed at least 5 hours before nap then a similar gap after like you've suggested. Id try push the nap a bit later

@Natalie does pushing the nap later really help in terms of sleeping through the night though? If her naps later, she goes to bed later which I don’t want as she already goes to bed around 9.30pm and wakes up around 9.30/10am. Earlier than that is too early for me!

Yes it does cos it means the gaps are right so they aren't going to bed over or under tired cos the daytime sleep is the right amount. I wouldn't necessarily change bedtime but I'd tweak the schedule around. Or it may be time to get rid of the nap and bring bedtime earlier. Most restorative sleep is pre midnight so the late bedtime may be part of the issue.

@Natalie ah okay that makes sense! If I get rid of her nap, how many hours should be awake for the day until she sleeps whilst she adjusts?

When my daughter dropped hers she would fall asleep 11.5-12 hours after waking whilst she adjusted and now it's 12-12.5 depending on the day she's had.

@Natalie okay thank you so much. Will try this x
