Recurring infections

Hi mamas! I’m having a big struggle right now. I’m 28 weeks pregnant and have been having recurring UTIs (e coli) for the last 6 weeks non stop. I’ve been on lots of different antibiotics (that have mostly worked) but as soon as I finish my course my symptoms come back instantly and I’m in so much pain again. I saw a medical student + female doctor today they tested my urine said it showed infection being back but they said they want to leave it and see if it goes by itself?? A doctor I saw at my maternity hospital said that it keeps coming back and it’s putting my baby under stress and causing constant braxton hicks contractions. The hospital also said I should be on constant preventative antibiotics the rest of the pregnancy but didn’t write it on my record so there’s no proof of this. I feel completely ignored by this doctor and not sure what else I can do as I’m worried about how it’s affecting my baby girl! Has anyone had a similar experience??

I had something similar but for 5 weeks ongoing and had blood in my pee tooo. It was on and off for a week and then off again. What helped me and I don’t know if you did this but I did it and it worked I have given my pee sample many times and some came back negative even few times or positive but not clear answer on antibiotics resistance but when I gave my pee sample first thing in the morning pee and asked for it to be tested against anitibiotic resistant y ( it took 2 days to get results back as the bacteria has to grow there or something ) It came back that antibiotic I took before was resistant and showed the one that was good for this. It then cleared it in a week and didn’t come back. I also did bough frozen cranberries and started making my own juice without concentrates and sugar, monitored my level of water intake so it’s not much in one go but 2 litres throughout the day, changed my underwear regularly and slept on the left side as my right kidney was dialated

Btw I went private for this uti test so I also didn’t have record on nhs as was fed up with tests there and lack of results and information they provide about your samples.

This is really helpful thank you!! Sorry you had to go through it!

I had recurring infections throughout my pregnancy too, and after treating it once, I was also told to leave it and that it would go away after birth. Thankfully, it didn’t affect my baby girl at all, and sure enough, after I gave birth, the infection disappeared on its own. I know it’s stressful, but just wanted to reassure you that your baby girl is safe. Hopefully, you’ll get some relief soon!
