C Section recovery

are you still in hospital? ask for tramadol as well as paracetamol x

What’s your pain med situation? I was on dihydrocodeine after both sections and it’s amazing stuff and safe for breastfeeding. Don’t go without medication, ring that buzzer xxx

Paracetamol and Ibuprofen done it for me. As painful as it is, keep moving, don’t lay in bed all day. I had my c section last week and I was up and walking 8 hours later x

Yep, agree with the above. Make sure to move around but don’t stretch yourself at the same time. I went for long walks too soon and it was quite painful afterwards

If regular acetaminophen and paracetamol/ibuprofen are not enough please let your care team know. They can give you heavier stuff. It's still painful but shouldn't be unbearable. Yiu can move around but don't overdo it. Just a simple walk to the bathroom from your bed is sufficient. And if you're not passing gas/having constipation you can get something for that too

Keep up with pain medicine, even when you don’t feel pain take it cause if you don’t the pain will catch up to you x

As others have said, if the pain is unbearable you need to ask for more pain relief. I was prescribed dihydrocodeine to take home as paracetamol and ibuprofen didn't cut it. I think I took it for the first few days, until just paracetamol and ibuprofen were enough. It's safe while breastfeeding if that's something you need to consider.

Make sure you don’t run out of meds 🙈 what helped me was sleeping inclined, so I didn’t need to fully get off the bed. Also when in the car take a pillow with you and hold it tight against your belly, especially when going over speed bumps as you will everything doing flips inside. Use silicone patches such as Frida to protect your scar 👍🏼 and try going on a short, slow walks in few days when you feel ready, but also plenty of rest

Don't be a hero! Take the pain meds on the hour as and when you can! Do not wait for the pain to take meds! I took dihydrocodeine, ibrobrofen and paracetamol on rotation every 2 hours for 2 weeks after C-section and I set alarms so I didn't miss a dose!!

Peppermint water for when the gas pain hits. And a laxative for when you feel up for going the toilet. Also if you ask for codeine they can give you some, don't try and push through with just Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. It's perfectly safe even if you're breastfeeding, you just can't have as much

The pain shouldn’t be unbearable. Ask for more pain relief and make sure it overlaps so you always have something in your system. I slept sitting up for the first couple of weeks. Have a little walk every day just around the house.
