Teething/high temp

Anyone else's little one had a high temp (averaging 38.5) when cutting teeth? Not sure if it's a coincidence that he's had a cold & terrible cough when he cut his first one 2 weeks ago, and the same again this week with his second tooth, but has a temp this tome too. He's been checked over by doc last week who said it could be viral infection, and again today at urgent care because we can't get his temp to stay down. They arent overly concerned and said a high temp isn't such a bad thing as its his bodies way of fighting any infections 🤷‍♀️ I'm wondering now if its just him cutting teeth?

Teething doesn’t cause a temperature it’s a myth, viral infection would make sense there isn’t much they can do about viral infections they’re not nice. Just keep an eye on wet nappies etc xx

Teething can only cause a low grade temp 37.5-37.8, anything above that is due to something else

There are some nasty bugs around at the moment . Just been in hospital with my little one after a high temp for a few days - also with a cough and cold. GP sent us to hospital. They did all the tests and his bloods showed a bacterial infection which he’s got antibiotics for, had to have the first 3 doses via IV. Ask for some further tests if you’re not satisfied

Same thing happened to my baby! With his first 2 teeth he got a cold! A friend told me that same thing also happened with her daughter

My little boy was the same last week - we’re just about to get out of it now. He’s teething as well. We went to GP and he was prescribed antibiotics due to his cough and colds which caused him to have a bit of wheezing noise. Temperature was 39.7 the highest. Took Calpol and a bit of putting cold towel on the forehead/cooling gel patches - did help. Called 111 a few times last week and found them helpful and managed to get him an appointment to be seen. GP said the same thing about our baby, they said should only be worried if baby becomes lethargic and wet nappies. Hope your little one feels better soon! x
