Upper arm pain
For the last week or so, when I get up to feed my LO (however long she's slept, regardless of whether it's early hours or 6am) my upper arms have been really aching. It seems to be getting worse, to the point where the last couple of days I can't even lift my arms to put a dressing gown on or tie my hair, and have to get my partner to lift LO out of the next to me. It eventually subsides enough for me to move my arms after very gentle movement, but they still have an underlying ache for quite a while. I had assumed it was just achy muscles from lifting and breastfeeding LO, but surely it should get better as my arms get stronger, like if I was doing training at the gym?
Has anyone else had this? Any advice?
Any upper arm pain should be checked out by a Doctor as soon as possible. I would hate for something serious to go unchecked. However, providing it is not caused from any cardiovascular issue, I think post partum muscle aches are still a topic not talked about enough. You have relaxin running through your body still. You’re doing repetitive movements that involve holding a heavy child in positions for long periods of time. Currently my wrists, ankles and forearms hurt all the time. I do believe this gets better as your hormones return to a more normal level. I think breastfeeding prolongs the lingering of relaxin. But do seek medical advice to rule out any serious issues
