Combi feeding

Just to ask…what makes you think your supply is not great? How old is little one? I have combi fed in the past. So whilst I was feeding formula I would pump at the same time. So I had some EBM for the next feed and then would just pump at every feed but I did find I couldn’t pump enough during each session to make up a full feed xx

I combine breast milk and formula into a bottle for one feed a day. Not because I’m struggling with my supply but I want to ensure my LO can tolerate formula ready for the future and it’s not as much pressure on me if I don’t pump enough. I don’t reduce my pumping sessions but sometimes I can pump 3-4oz and other times 1oz if that.

Just started yesterday as I can only get 60 ml when I pump and she drinks 120ml now per feed . I pump every 2-3 hours . She actually enjoyed the formula 😭😭😂 which made me a bit upset , I thought she would pull some faces but no

@Jade Hello, because I sometimes pump like 60ml and she needs 120ml per feed so we’re having to use some I managed to freeze before I exclusively pumped. She’s 19 weeks old.

@Nicol this is exactly what happens to me, that’s sad but also good she is happy on the formula too!

I've not tried formula yet so I can't help you on that I'm afraid but in terms of not pumping enough is it maybe your pump that's the problem? I pump first thing in the morning just to get rid of the excess I've built up overnight since my little boy has started sleeping through. I was consistently getting 130ml for months until suddenly I would struggle to get more than 60ml. I thought at first it was stress because it coincided with my dad going in to hospital but then I changed pumps and was suddenly getting 150ml every morning. If it's not your pump then atleast check the valve if it needs replacing, my husband cleaned my pump parts once and put the valve on wrong and damaged it and it stopped pulling anywhere near as much milk until I got some new ones.

Yes! I give 2 bottles of my milk in the morning, for breakfast etc,and rest is formula

@Marta how much of each do you give if you don’t mind me asking?

6oz of my milk ,each time ,then 2 bottles ,5oz,of formula and last bottle ,before bed,is 6-7oz formula.
