Nipple shield’s & collection cups

I’m currently using nipple shields to save my breastfeeding journey and collection cups because I get so much let down. I got a second set of shields today so I have more in rotation between cleaning and sterilising. When reading the cleaning instructions today it states to clean after each use however sterilise once a day? Is this right rather than every use? If so would this be the same for collection cups?

I’m not an expert but from what I’ve read and seen since starting breastfeeding is that items only need sterilising every 24hrs but wash with warm soapy water after each use

I sterilized mine every day. Do keep in mind that shields decrease your milk supply over time so keep an eye on it. If you start to see a change in your let down especially as baby ages and starts being able to handle more, then you should stop using them.

@Samantha-Jo there’s very mixed opinions regarding nipple shields in terms of decreasing your supply however without them I wouldn’t be breastfeeding at all so they are a must at the moment. Hopefully I’ll be healed enough soon to feed without

I know what you mean! That was just the warning I got from my midwife, breastfeeding coach and the training I received when I took a course on breastfeeding. If they help then use them! They helped me with my first baby as well so I get it.
