Potty training

My son is 3&1/2 and we've been potty training for a few months. He seemed to have it all figured out until I took his small potty and had him start using the toilet in the bathroom. He has a potty seat and a stool so he can climb up and sit comfortably. This worked for a little but over the past few weeks he's just been peeing in his underwear. He only sits on the toilet if I make him. If I don't he just goes in his pants. It's been days of this and I tried to make it fun to go potty again. We've done potty songs rewards everything but today was my breaking point. We were at Chuck E. Cheese and I had just taken him to the bathroom then a few minutes later he pees on the little trampoline. All the kids had to get off and they had to disinfect. It's embarrassing. Then when we got home he peed again while standing in the living room. I just don't get why he won't use the toilet anymore. Any tips?

Girl, you’re not alone! First, don’t feel embarrassed; it happens sometimes, and all you can do is your best. This is something a lot of us go through, lol. I promise it gets better and easier! Sometimes, you have to go back to step one again. Remember, consistency is key.For example, you know your baby best. If he is wetting himself frequently, it's on US to stay on them like clockwork. When I got frustrated at my son it only pushed him away from using it. I had to take a deep breath and remind myself that he’s still just a toddler who is learning. So, what I did was every time I had to go to the bathroom, I would take him with me to try and go pee, whether or not he actually needed to go. It’s very time-consuming but worth it, even if that means taking him every hour or two to try. Continue with the fun, the singing, and the snacks when you can!

I know it’s hard, but it will be worth it. My son was the same way with the small potty. We felt it was best to start showing him how to stand up and pee using a stool especially after moving him to the bigger toilet. He was scared at first, but the more you take him with you or with dad, the more he will see it’s not scary or bad. Haha girl I had to make it a game! I would throw one Cheerio or a Fruit Loop into the big toilet so he could aim at it until he got the hang of it. It took a couple of tries, but he eventually did it! When he succeeded, I would show my excitement, say “Yay!”, give him a hug, and reward him with candy afterward. (but also make sure to remind him dont be throwing things in the toilet like that 😆) its just for learning lol. For pooping, I would have him sit take his time and read potty books sing do whatever works for him. Eventually, he will do it more and on his own.

i know its hard girl Just remember to stay on him like clockwork and he will get it down this is only temporary lol just takes a little patience and if this doesn't help there are alot of videos of different ways that might work better for him 🙂 Hope this helps! You got this, Mama! Don't give up💕

Thanks so much @Lexi! I will try some potty books and maybe a couple Cheerios lol. Thanks for the advice. It can be hard because I felt like he was doing it on purpose; like he just wasn't taking me seriously when I told him he needs to use the potty, but you're right. He's just learning. I'm going to take it back to basics, stay on him and try some new techniques. 😊
