Pregnancy sleep

Hello! I’ll be 19wks tomorrow and for the past few weeks I have been unable to sleep more than 3-5 hours a night. If I haven’t woken up before the 5hr mark, I am bang on it and it’s like something wakes me suddenly, eyes wide open etc. I try often to go back to sleep but can’t. I end up feeling exhausted during the day and it’s taking a bit of a toll on my emotions. I’ve been really teary and irritable the past few days. Unfortunately I’ve never been able to nap through the day so can’t make up for it that way. I mentioned this to the midwife at my last appointment and I’ve tried the things she recommended like keeping a sleeping routine, no caffeine before bed, etc. but nothing seems to help. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any other tips or tricks?

It’s the pregnancy insomnia I got tablets for it and helped me a lot! I’d speak to your doctor

Oh sweetness, it’s so hard! Ironically, I sleep better now that baby is here! I’d sometimes not sleep at all during the night, even if I was EXHAUSTED… and nod off about 5am! I tried everything, too. No screen time, warm bath, sleep tea, going out for a walk in the day. I stayed the night at a friends house one night and the change of scenery seemed to do the trick. My body got to the point after a week or so that it allowed me to sleep. Unfortunately just one of those things and not very often spoken about!

Unisom! Try half. Talk to your doc but it knocks me out when I can’t sleep. I take a b6 with it too. And magnesium at night should also be pregnancy safe but again, check with your doc.

Pregnancy insomnia. Theres an old wives tale it’s also your body preparing you for the baby arriving and the wake ups you get for them x

Thank you all. I’m probably over-thinking it and my hormones are flying, I really appreciate everyone’s advice 🥹🖤
