Icsi ivf

Just had out 2nd 1vf cycle Cycle 1: we got 9 eggs. 5 fertilised. 4 made it to blasts. Transfered 1 2bb = bfn other 3 too poor of quality ti freeze Cycle 2 : 14 eggs i was hoping for more as I had about 30 follicles growing and about 18 looking good size. My husband did his sample and w got told to wait to discuss his results. They said his sperm didn't meet their parameters mainly for motility and suggest ivf or second sample. He did a second sample anyways which got our numbers up more and he was now within ivf limits but borderline. They gave us the choice what to do but said ivf a risk of no fertilisation this time so on that note we have decided with icsi. They obviously said can really say what will happen but feel this might give us more. This also came at an additional fee of £1300 Has this happened to anyone and what were your results. I'm really worrying now. Our scans were all so much more positive this time round and then today feels like a huge knock back. I was really hoping we could get some frozen this time as spares

My husband and I chose ICSI and we ended up with 9 embryos, 8 are frozen and currently pregnant after fet. My husband has low motility so they stated ICSI was best for us. It worked for us. Good luck

@Patrice thank you that's a good positive story glad it worked for you..I'm worrying about damaging the eggs as we had blast last time but low quality. They didn't say why but wondered if it was an egg quality issue or sperm issue then

We also used ICSI for borderline sperm and 15 of our 16 eggs fertilized successfully and we had 12 blasts. If done properly, it doesn’t damage the eggs and can provide you with more embryos as they have a higher likelihood to fertilize if there is a male factor, no matter how small.

@Annia wow that's an amazing result

Yes so don’t worry too much about having to use ICSI. :)

@Annia thank you. I. Just wondered with egg quality I guess. I think I've really really positive or really negative so guess it can go one way or another. This cycle seem to have just completely drained me. I know ivf is hard anyways but this one feels so hard compared to last. My egg collection was so painful this time I full on cried and then felt super embarrassing but just couldn't take it. Then to follow up with new sperm quality wasn't good I felt like I couldn't keep doing it anymore. Maybe just because it's raw and mix of hormones and feeling physically rubbish.. sorry for the moan

That’s OK, that’s what this platform is here for. IVF is a rollercoaster. Some times I felt like I could fly through it and others, like you now, it felt so overwhelming and then add the unpredictable events and the hormone mix … For now, you have done your retrieval. With lots of eggs. 14 is the sweet spot and you have true chances, which imo are even higher as you used ICSI. Whatever happened with your previous cycle does not have to happen again. Each cycle is unique. Take it one day at a time 💜 xx

ICSI is brilliant for male fertility issues. I don’t know why they don’t do this as standard tbh - it puts the best sperm into the best eggs - no brainer!! 100% do it

I had ICSI on both my collections due to MIF. - 34 collected, 32 matured, 15 fertilised & 3 blasto. 2nd was 28:26:22:4. Both mine were collected at 39 years old, so will never be amazing quality, but good enough to freeze. Had 5 transfers, all survived thawing, but none implanted. Now waiting for my 6th transfer

Thanks for everyone comments. I'm currently 4dp5dpt. They rang us on day 2 to say out of 14 eggs they could inject 10 and 6 fertilised but 6 were good quality. On transfer day we have 1 embryo to transfer and 1 poor quality that couldn't be frozen.. I've really struggled with another round of poor results. I know I should be happy and focusing on my 1 good one but feel so down everyone is freezing and we have no safety net again if this fails

It only takes one keep strong 💪🏼 If you have to go again then look into Accupunture I swear by it for egg quality and miscarriage prevention and shortening labour

@Francesca thank you for your message. I've been feeling really positive just hoping it doesn't back fire. I actually started acupuncture. I did 1 during stims , and 1 before and day of my transfer. Will definitely be doing it again in the future too 🥰
