Gestational Diabetes C Section?

Hi ladies! I’m 32 weeks on Friday and have GD. I am on insulin 4 times a day and my readings are still more red than green! I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar position, and had a C Section, if so when did they discuss delivering baby?

Hi, I had my c-section 4 weeks ago and I had GD. C-section was first mentioned to me at 32 or 33 weeks (I can’t remember exactly) following a growth scan which showed that baby was rather large! He was born weighing 8lbs 7 oz by the way so not super massive. Anyway, c-section was mentioned then due to baby size rather than GD even though I also had hypertension. I was given some leaflets about c-section and induction so I could make an informed choice. Later on in pregnancy I saw another consultant and he wanted to induce rather than for me to have a section but after doing my research I advocated for myself to have a section and he accepted it. They put the reason down as maternal choice but it was fine. On the day of the section I was operated on first due to GD though! So I didn’t have to wait all day and the c-section was actually a really good experience as it was planned and I was prepared. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer :)

I don't have gd,I'm type 1. but how are you takin ur insulin? If ur high after eating, youd likely need to prebolus(give insulin 20-45 min in advanced, prior to eating) to prevent spikes. Walk immediately after a meal if you can. Cuz I dont see why u would automatically be getting a c section unless ur baby is 100th percentile.

I forgot to add that I was 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant when my baby was born, no complications. He was born healthy and happy ❤️

@Ewa oh my gosh thank you so much! I may message you! Xx
