Newborn struggles

My mental health is in the absolute gutter . My newborn is 2 weeks and she’s got a gunky eye , milk blister and she’s also showing all the signs of infant dyschezia and oh my is it ruining my mental health . She’s just never seems to be right . I hate it every noise she makes I’m worried about , I just want her to be okay and not in any distress or discomfort. I also have been sleeping through my alarms for night feeds which has been really disappointing and distressing as my boyfriend has been staying up all the time to look after her and he lets me sleep however I just feel awful . Haven’t felt this low in my life and feel like I’m missing out on the newborn stage because of it all . I don’t really know how to cope .

I am sorry you’re feeling this way but it’s okay, remember this is just a phase and don’t be too hard on yourself. I am going through same my girl is just 10 days old and we’re struggling as first time parents but she will never be this young and we ll never have this time back just keep pushing and staying positive. Take your vitamins and vitamin D. Do your best and seek help.

Ah I really feel for you! Sounds awful but hang in there you have got this ❤️ if I am ever feeling mentally suffocated I always try and counteract the thoughts by listing all the things I am grateful for and that really helps me get away from any anxious thoughts 😊 for the alarm it’s great your partner is helping you and it should not be solely your responsibility but if you feel like you want to help more and you are missing out could you move your alarm to a place where you would have to get up out of bed to turn it off? Sending hugs x

Gunky eyes, milk blisters and tummy problems are extremely common with newborns. These things just tend to occur no matter how hard we try so please don’t be so hard on yourself. You are doing a great job! Just writing this message shows how much you care. And I agree that it’s great that your partner is helping with feeding in the night!! He sounds like a great guy. Remember you are adjusting too. Give yourself time. And please speak to a professional about how low you feel but it will get better x
