This may sound silly, but…what do you do with baby all day?

My son (16wk) isn’t very interested in toys yet; at most he wants to watch them or grip them. He loves to watch his mobile and sometimes will play with a sensory book. So, between food, naps, walks, and some tummy time…what do your lil ones do all day?

Sounds just about right. I practice giving him stuff to hold to get his motor skills going. I personally prop him in a bopping pillow and let him watch tv so I can get stuff done 🤷‍♀️. My LO eats so often I don’t usually have time to be board haha

@Mia same here lol she watches education shows for a bit so that I can shower, wash dishes etc when I’m alone

@Sorely girl we do what we gotta do. Tbh, I hate the moms that come at me for no screen time. Like, I’m a single mom and I work from home, I need any minute I can to get stuff done 🤷‍♀️

@Mia my two year old watches hours of tv so I can continue to work from home and not get fired 😆 Do I feel guilty? Sometimes. But ya do what ya gotta do.

Glad I’m not the only one letting him watch tv! Lol

@Charlie someone judges you for watching tv, or literally ANYTHING else that helps you in some type of way, drop the baby off and say u figure it out then I got shit to do ✌️

Watching and gripping the toys is good! We sing, i take him and toys and bouncer outside. Go for walks around the block, both in stroller and baby wearing. Read to him. Just introduce toys and play with him and talk as much as I can. I try to limit his screen time but no judgement to those who don't!

@Lauren why do you feel guilty? Your baby is entertained, weather it’s Mickey Mouse, educational, or the damm CNN news who cares haha. You are making money to keep a roof over his head, and diapers on his butt, and he’s having fun! Good work to the mamas who are pro TV/whatever keeps them entertained

I honestly put her in the swing and perform Britney spears concerts for her. She loves it. Its hilarious! I usually do this while cleaning or something.

Yeah I put mine in the sit me up and let him practice playing with his toys, do tummy time, practice helping him roll from back to tummy or tummy to back or listen to music. If I need to get things done and he wants me to hold him I strap him to my chest and get stuff done. Only reason I don’t put him infront of a screen this early is bc I’ve read it can cause adhd and over stimulation which will become a bigger problem later as he gets older. I just don’t want him to be dependent on a screen to entertain him, I grew up going outside or getting creative to entertain myself growing up , especially when my parents and siblings were busy and I ended up with skills kids these days have no idea about, such as climbing a tree, or what certain types of bugs look like or the fun in making a mudpie or catching lightning bugs. 🤷🏽‍♀️ to each their own Ofcs , that’s just my perspective.

Here is what I do with my 3.5 month old during wake windows: Crinkle books. Tummy time on his water mat. Practice holding things with his teethers, oball, or other toys. Read books. Sing songs. I have bath toys that light up in the water, so I put him on his boppy and let him do tummy time with a water dish and the light up toys - he grabs at them and splashes, the light help keep his attention. Talk - ABCs, go over body parts, counting. I have color cards, so I have him track them while repeating the color. Put his walker against the couch and sit behind him to practice sitting, while playing with the toys/buttons on the walker.

I do many of the activities already mentioned and I try to do at least one outing with her everyday. That could just be a walk or we go to a pet store to look at fish, go to the library, walk with other moms, coffee shop, or just walk around a store. I feel you though. Some days feel like groundhogs day of just cycling through the same activities and I’m just killing time before she needs to sleep.
