Does it look infected?

3 weeks postpartum and it’s very red and has a smell. Does that mean it is infected?

Mine also had a smell to it but I don’t remember if it was red. If it’s causing any pain or discomfort you should let you OB know

It should not be splotchy red like that. swelling red is normal and part of a healing process but splotchy red and smelly in definitely a sign of infection and you should see your OB Immediately Mine never had a smell to it but my aunt had two infected c-sections and said an Odor is the first sign of an infection

the redness could just be from friction-keep it moisturized or use a bit of aquaphor but if in doubt get it checked

Looks and sounds like an infection

Mine was the same as it had a very small opening, I was put on antibiotics and told to “air it off and dry it” multiple times a day

Looks infected. If it's red or itchy or smelly it's infected.

Looks like it. It’s not dry either, you have to keep the moisture away. Try using a sanitary pad on the inside of your knickers along the wound, it soaks up sweat and keeps it clean and dry
