@Sinead I’ve never been in labour so don’t know what to expect. Sometimes my stomach doesn’t tighten but I just get a lot of pain at the bottom of my stomach and my lower back 😅
@Dominika i felt the same when i had my first, i had no idea what contractions would feel like, and idk if i have a terrible pain tolerance but my contractions were so painful. i mean luckily my waters broke before the contractions started, so i definitely knew it was happening, contractions happened like five minutes after my waters broke and my god they were horrible. i say about the pain tolerance bcos when we got to the birth centre, they checked my dilation and said i wasn’t even 1cm dilated even though i was violently throwing up from the pain 🥲 so if that’s anything to go by, you’d definitely know when it’s contractions but then i think others with better pain tolerance might not feel them so intensely like i did when they first started 🤣xxx
Omg girl same as me I’m 38 weeks today and I’ve got the worst pregnancy insomnia!! Went to sleep at 6am…
@Lauren i started mat leave at 35 weeks and i literally would sleep until 10 am. Nap around 1pm for hours and then still have a full night sleep. Last night I barely slept and I feel so wide awake now at bed time 🙃🙃
@Dominika yes me too! Hopefully it’s a sign… I’ll be fine when the baby comes because of my lack of sleep now😂
@Sinead oh jesus thats scary!
Braxton hicks usually start at the top of your bump whereas contractions start lower like period pains. It could be your body prepping for labour - after all that’s what braxton hicks are - but it could still be weeks off 🤷🏻♀️ just try get as much rest in as you can xx
@Gaby the tightenings I get start at the bottom of my stomach usually so hopefully that’s my body getting ready 😩
@Sinead glad I’m not the only one who feels they have a low pain tolerance, are you nervous for 2nd baby? I am!
@Terrianne i’m so nervous!! i mean i had a pretty easy first labour aside from the pain, it was quick and j had no complications whatsoever but this pregnancy has come with a whole array of issues, making me high risk making me more likely of complications which scares me even more as i could barely handle the pain the first time, let alone if any complications happen 😭
@Sinead oh mine was so long! He pooped inside me which meant I was stuck to the bed for 2 days wasn’t aloud to move or eat I had catheter in the whole time and ended up getting prepped for theatre as he wasn’t happy inside. Luckily they got him out with forceps on the table and I didn’t. Have to have a section because that would just be even more, then I had to stay in for 5 days. I’m hoping for no complications this time and rely focusing on hypnobirthing & natural pain relief but we shall see how long that lasts! What complications might you have being high risk? C
@Terrianne oh that sounds like a horrific first birth!! did you do hynobirthing etc last time and do you find it helps? i never did any of the sort to get in preparation i just winged it 🤣 i’ve got pelvic girdle pain and gestational diabetes, the gestational diabetes is what puts me at high risk now which is so sad, my first birth was in a birth centre and it was the most perfect experience but now i have to give birth in my local hospital and i might not be allowed water birth which i also really want, it’s tough xx
No I never did anything like that with my first xx
watch your braxton hicks, if they become regular and increasingly more painful then that could be real contractions and you should call triage! Xx
