Breastmilk is all supply and demand, latch more = produce more, latch less = produce less. If you’re giving formula you’re latching less so producing less. Plus your baby’s saliva tells your body exactly what they need, so if it’s telling your body they’re satiated and don’t need much, your body won’t produce much. That’s why pumping for missed feeds it so important, babies are much more efficient at removing milk than a pump too so pumping only for missed feeds isn’t always enough and people often find they need to pump more
I was told as long as you keep a schedule pumping you will not loose your supply.. so even when you giving formula you have to pump for 20-30 mins
