Incontinence after birth

Okay so I’m sorry if this is tmi but i wanted to see if I wasn’t the only one and if anyone had solutions. After I gave birth in May I have been having incontinence(leaky bladder) and as well as excess discharge. It’s still going on and I’ve seen the doctor and going to a physiotherapist. Anyone have the same problem? Any solutions?

It’s very common. Your entire pelvic floor weakens during pregnancy and childbirth and needs to be retrained, just like any other muscle in your body. The physiotherapist will be able to really help you with appropriate pelvic floor strengthening exercises. I saw a difference in just a couple weeks, but consistency is key.

Thank you!! Did you also have alot of discharge too?

I only had it in the first couple months postpartum and it cleared up before I started physiotherapy. I know it can be common though, especially in breastfeeding mothers as the hormone levels can increase production. It can also happen before the return of your first period. I’m not sure how much physio can help with that, it seems like the GP should investigate that as a separate issue, but I could be wrong.
