When do babies stop crying from gas

My poor baby gets so much gas every evening and cries a lot from it and I’m wondering when this will phase out or is something wrong with her?? I know babies cry from gas but like for how many months is normal? It’s only in the evenings

No my baby does too, I imagine it’s when the air bubbles make a sharp feeling in her stomach because I can usually hear it as well and cried out in pain 😞 it literally breaks my heart to hear. Some gripe water or mylicon works to help relieve it.

Is she breastfed or formula fed? Do you burp her really well after feeding and do you hold her upright for at least 15 minutes after feeding?

Good to know if she’s formula or breastfed could give very different advice. If you bottle feed, try different bottles also I’ve seen it help people if you have them at an incline and on their side.

We are giving up dairy (cow dairy) for painful gas. But yeah, what people suggest will depend on how you are feeding your little one.

My pediatrician recommended gripe water for that problem, and finally we were able to have better days, check with your pediatrician. Poor baby and also man and dad. Is too stressful.

I don’t remember when my son stopped But I’m 4 months in with my twins and it’s gotten better but they have certain times of the day where they are so gassy

My son gets super gassy too! He’s breastfed, and over the last month or two he’s only been pooping once a week.. he went two weeks at one point without a bowel movement and his pediatrician said to give miralax at a certain point, which has helped. We use gas drops as needed, lots of tummy massages, and bicycle kicks!

We’re just getting over our 2 month long episode of this, here’s what we did! Our ped wanted me to cut all dairy but that’s the only way I was getting any protein. So we tried famotidine. She said it takes 2 weeks to work, we only lasted 2 days. He was even fussier and in more pain taking it and the long term side effect made me nervous. So I met with a lactation specialist and we weighed him before and after a feeding and he ate 2 ounces on his own so we started feeding him 2.5 every 3 hours and slowly but surely the cries, big spit ups and gas became less frequent. We held him straight up as much as we could when we fed him, burped half way through the bottle and after. The burp HAS to come out! We kept him straight up for 20-30 minutes after feeding (holding, bounce chair, swing) We slowly added 1/2 ounce to the bottles every other week or when we thought he was ready and offered an extra ounce if he still acted hungry. He’s drinking 4 at a time now and is a completely different.

As a second time mom, I can confirm that for some (most babies) it's completely normal up to 3+ months and will get better with time. I also cut dairy/soy due to blood in poop for both my children and the fact that their poopies went back to normal confirmed CMPA. However, those witching hours are inevitable for all babies and you will start to see it get better. Try not to stress as it's a completely normal part of their development and by 6 months, you'll be on cloud 9. You've already overcome the hardest months, should only get better from here!

My pediatrician recommended probiotic drops for gas as well. I think it helped. I bought the mommy's bliss ones off amazon.

I stopped giving our girl the vitamin D drops, night and day difference 🙏🏼 I wish I had stopped them sooner!

Thank you all so much for all the tips, happy mostly to know this is normal right now and I shouldn’t stress. I breastfeed at night and formula during the day. I eat tons of dairy so maybe I will try a different protein source for a while. Maybe new bottles will help as well I’ve been using MAM

It might be the formula. You could try a different formula. If the majority of their food is from formula vs breast feeding I'd try changing the formula first. And only if the gas is causing discomfort
