Potty training help!

So I gave potty training my nearly 25 month old a go today and it’s so confusing! I’ll explain why; We were going to try on the potty in 15 minute increments and had nothing. Then mid way through the morning she all of a sudden goes “wee wee” and we quickly rushed to the potty and she did a big wee! Her knickers were a little wet which tells me she knew the feeling, started the wee then stopped it until she made it to the potty. There was a big celebration and I gave her a chocolate coin. Then after that she wouldn’t sit on it and freaked out every time I tried! I don’t understand because the first one she did she was so happy with herself. Any advice or words of wisdom?

Maybe start off with no knickers and then gradually build up to them once her bladder gets a bit more used to it

Do you have a small potty or one attached to the toilet? X

@Kate Yeah I did consider doing that but she was excited to wear them, they have dinosaurs on 😂

@Liv a small one, it’s the same one we’ve used since she was 8 months when we started elimination communication so she’s super familiar with it

If she said wee wee when she needed to go then I'd suggest not prompting and just watching like a hawk rather than making her sit every 15 minutes. We followed the oh crap method and it worked really well for us at the same age

@Fiona I could give that a go! I just don’t want to push her and then put her off. What does the oh crap method involve?

Naked from the waist down at first and watch like a hawk, any signs of wee/poo put them on the potty. Once you're more confident with their signals then add clothes. Google has a decent summary
