Do you have any tips for frying chicken? I'm doing drumsticks.

I am not trying to make it healthy. It's fried chicken.

I like to do a wet batter then toss it in flour then into the oil, makes it crispy and kinda kfc -esque if you’re into that type

@Heidi yeah I'm going to wet dry. Right now I'm doing a buttermilk marinade.

Oooo that sounds delicious. I’ve friend tenders but not drumsticks before. Never occurred to me

I got peanut oil as I heard it's good for frying chicken.

I’m commenting on this post cuz I’m observing & waiting for the comments to get a little seasoned cuz I know a black mama will see this post & help u out With some tips. Im usually a baked chicken type of woman & when I fry my chicken I usually do it without breading cuz that’s how we do it back home. Bt I love the fried chicken coated with breading bt I don’t have a unique recipe to share cuz I’m still learning myself X

I've only cooked chicken once in my life and I feel like I would have been better off frying it 😂 My sister does a wet -> dry -> wet -> dry dredge and it makes the crispiest, most amazing looking skin. I'm not fully knowledgeable about halal based food rules, but if it's ok for you to use egg in the buttermilk as well, it's a good addition

I always add my seasoned chicken to buttermilk and leave it for as long as possible I then add it to seasoned flour (I also add a little cornstarch to the flour) straight into the fryer, I find leaving the chicken at room temperature for 20/30 mins makes the batter stay on better and having the temp at medium and let it crisp up slowly and cook through without getting dark on the outside.

@Raqi yeah I'm going to do egg in the buttermilk when I go to fry it.

@Basmah I got an oil thermometer so I can cook it at 325 (that's what google said), doing cornstarch in the flour and putting it on a cooling rack after.

I seasoned the buttermilk marinade with Louisiana hot sauce, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. It will be in there for about 7 hours.

I have a special recipe, it does involve driving to Popeyes though.

@Dana 🦅♥️🤍💙 lmao 🤣

Double dredge is life 😗🤌
