Car seats when going abroad

We are planning to go away towards the end of the year our daughter would have just turned 3 and our son coming up to 1. We are looking at holidays that come with the transfer but im not sure about travelling without car seats for them as in they would sit on our laps. Has anyone travelled before ? What did you do ?

Take your car seats and book a private transfer

I would say take your car seat unless you are ilusing public transport like trains, trams and buses. In some places you can rent car seats. Depending on you trust level, that could be an option.

We're on a package trip now with coach transfers. They don't have allocated seats for infants. They're expected to be on your lap. It was absolutely fine. We aren't travelling about whilst abroad so we didn't need to bring one. Things to consider: On package trips, infants aren't allocated a coach seat even if you have a car seat, so you'd need to discuss that with the tour operator Some taxis won't take them without seats, so think about what your holiday will include

I was also questioning this.. as I wasn t sure what to do when we transfer to hotel.

@Lizzy how old are you little ones ? And how long was your transfer? I did think they would sit on laps but still thinking it’s not very safe.

@Adelaide she's 5 months old & it was about 45 mins. She was absolutely fine sat on my husbands knee and loved looking out the window. I know what you mean about safety and I did think about options but half the journey is the coach stop/starting for drop offs & round town driving. Decided it was one less thing to carry & store
