Experiences with membrane/ stretch and sweep?

Hey mamas Just curious to know everyone’s experiences with getting a membrane/ stretch and sweep. Did it work, when did you get it done? how long did it take for you to go into labour and did you have “fake labour” where your cervix didn’t dilate much where you needed extra intervention? I’m currently 36 weeks and Ob is saying she would like to do a sweep at 38 weeks. My first two years ago I was induced with a sweep and also Pitocin and I know 100% I do not want to go on pitocin again as the pain was unbearable. I’m hoping to get a membrane sweet and go into labour naturally without any synthetic oxytocin. Has anyone had any positive experiences as a second time mum or even first?

Heck yes, i would highly recommend it. Didn’t even hurt. Took me 10 minutes hahahh

@maddison do you mind me asking what week did you get your sweep? when did labour kick in & did you need further medication?

I got one and lost my mucus plug that day but didn’t go into labour. Maybe another would have worked but my induction was scheduled for a week later so didn’t get the chance

I was 37 weeks when I got it done. It didn’t take long- it didn’t hurt, but was pretty uncomfortable. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me and I still needed to be induced with pitocin at 38 weeks (first time mum)

@Erin what week did you get your sweep done if you don’t mind? Did you get any contractions at all or cramping after getting it done by any chance?

@Tiarne sorry to hear it didn’t work! How was your experience with pitocin? I found it to be so hard & unbearable! Wish I was able to labour without it. Did you cramp at all after getting the sweep done?

I got it at 38 weeks (induction was 39 weeks). No cramps and no other symptoms. Just went to the toilet and when I wiped the plug came out.

It was the worsssst! I swear my contractions were 30 seconds apart but I was only 2cms dilated. I had to get an epidural (which I wanted to avoid) and my son ended up having to be vacuumed in the end (and with that I needed to get an episiotomy) Way too many interventions. From memory I think I did cramp a little but nothing crazy

@Tiarne same with me. My contractions were 20 seconds apart and I was 4cm dilated so I had no time to recover in between contractions at all. Got the epidural and ended up needed emergency c section
